Cod 4

First off, its been a while since I have been gaming.... years even....

So I won a Spiderman Edition PS3 Saturday at Best Buy...... Went to Walmart yesterday and picked up COD4.. I dig those kinds of games..

Went online set it up to play online.... Went into one of those Multiplayer type things.. I think it was called team deathmatch.....

Man, I got my @SS Handed to me!!!!! I may need some pointers on how to do that type of stuff..

I only did about 6 or 7 matches, and I am now ranked a Lance Corporal (sp?).

Is that even remotely good?? I'm sure the guys on my team were screaming at me...

Anyway, any pointers for a novice that wants to play online.. I dont want to piss anyone off, but I do need to get more experience....

I have completed 4 or 5 regular game missions.....(on easy of course)

Thanks for any help

Don't worry, your not the only one, I have this on the PC (sorry for swearing) and I keep getting my proverbial derriere minced on a regular basis, but, it's all part and parcel of cod4.

Best suggestion I can make is to play some of the Headquarters multiplay games, this will enable you to learn how to work within a team situation and you will gain quite a lot of points to help you gain access to the better weapons and perks.

Patience........

I basically suck at shooters but LOVE them (glutton for punishment).

Play the campaign 1st, it only takes about 5 hours even for my sorry butt.

I essentially got my butt kicked online until about level 12 or so (remember - I suck!!).

So just be patient. One tip to remember tho - USE the weapons upgrades and perks (classes). How you set them up in consideration with your fighting style makes a HUGE difference!!!!!!! I have 2 primary settings I use:

- RPD is my fav - red dot sight (you get at level 12 or something like that), perks are RPG, stopping power, deep penetration. Good for general maps like ambush or pipeline or crash.

- Sub machine gun - MP5: perks are stopping power, steady aim, and martyr. Good for close combat maps like vacant or wetworks.

You'll do fine. The whole point is that as you rank up you get more kick a$$ stuff. It really doesnt take very long to rank up. Oh, one other suggestion - dont by shy about setting up LAN matches with no one but you. You walk around and learn the maps quickly without getting killed every 10 seconds. It helps a LOT!!!!

I went in yesterday and played the Headquarters mode a couple of times...

The guys in there were a-holes. I've never played it, so I was just learning the ropes.... Man they were complete jerks about how I was playing. I even tried to turn down the voice volume because they were getting pretty bad, but it did not work.. If I had a mic, I would have let them know it was the first day that I had been there..... Still, they probably would have acted the same..

Im sure its a bunch of immature dorks sitting in their darked out rooms thinking that if you aren't taking COD seriously like its real life, then you shouldn't be playing......

They need to Get a life and just have fun...

I don't spray and pray..... I take my time to aim..... There have been times of panic, but not much.

The guys in that game are just not patient with people that have just started.
