Final Fantasy XIII on Track for 2008 - Playable Demo Coming to the PSN

According to Final Fantasy XIII character designer Tetsuya Nomura, FFXIII is still very much o track for a 2008 release date. Nomura also claims that a playable demo will be released on the Playstation Network to show off the game's revamped battle system.

got to admit i have never played a final fantasy game, i guess i just didnt catch on to very many japanese games like mgs. i heard u dont need to know the story to play each one though cuz they change settings and characters. is this correct?

Only final fantasy I played was ff7 and ff tactics..and both were great games. ffxiii looks tight..cant wait til the demo comes out!

does anyone know if the battle system will be the same in FFXii or are they going back to turn based again? because i really liked the battle system in FFXii

Yeah i hope so too ! After I've played FF on the playstaion, i got addicted. Now after that, ive always looked for a game just like it, with the battling and everything. But it seems nothing i looked for is the same as FF. I cant wait till this comes out ! Does anyone know the official date?

yes almost every ff is a completely world with different characters. there are some exceptions ffX-2 (follow up to ffX) and ffX11 (set in the same world as ff tactics).

i'll wind up playing it just because i've played all the other but i feel that the last good ff game was 9. so i'm just hopeing that the new one is desent but by putting out 2 different ffXIII it looks like it's gonna suck.

dont freak out FF lovers, its just a jab....

From what I've heard they are done with the turn-based stuff in the previous games. Now.. REAL TIME!! Think something like Kingdom Hearts.

FFXIII will be a mixture of ATB and real time, although the battle speed will be MUCH faster than XII, as you probably would have seen in the trailer. You will have to "que" your attacks, and the character will unleash the moves when the gauge has filled up. This should allow you to "chain" attaks, again, much like in the trailer.

versusXIII on the other hand...

It will play much like Kingdom Hearts (real time) BUT will also contain First-Person Shooter elements...

Man, I really hope it's a throwback or tribute to the classic FF games. The battle system in XII was alright but it just flat out didn't feel like an FF game.

It's included with Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete. You can probably import it, but it'll be released in America on June 2nd. (I'm not sure about Europe)

From what I've seen, the gameplay seems far better than in XII, but still looks worse than the original system. :/
