Well, it's May and we're all still busily hacking away at that beast of a game know to many simply as: "The best game ever made".

But if you would, for a second, look to the future, we can see that there are two gaming franchises that are on the ropes, and having a last chance at fame and glory...

Let's go back ten years ago when a new franchise from Insomniac games came out exclusively on the Playstation. The name of the game, Spyro the Dragon. With two more successful sequels launched on Playstation it seemed that Spyro's success and momentum amongst gaming fans wouldn't leave the franchise. But it did as we all know, when the franchise was taken away from the Developing studios of Insomniac games, and the sixth generation begun, one of the most broke games ever, Spyro Enter the Dragonfly appealed to many by the strength of the Franchise name. But it ended there, and a host of sequels and spin offs followed that truly tore at the franchise and eventually it seemed dead. But hope came with a new Developer and a promised trilogy to reboot the franchise. The first game passed (6/10). The second game fell far from the tree (3.75/10). Now a third game is promised, with a promised return of Gary Oldman and Elijah Wood, a new co-op system and a far more expansive system of gameplay, so on the offset, the game does look promising.

And of course everyone's much loved blue hedgehog who's comeback last year on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 went about aswell as an all night party with Chavs and Emo's. The disaster that was Sonic the Hedgehog didn't even sell very well on the Franchise name. The glory days of Sonic have been left on 2D games of yester...decade? But Sonic Unleashed coming out at the end of the year hopes to revitalise the Franchise, it's promise of a return to what made Sonic great with a lot of new features (including a case of lycanthrope for our little blue speadfreak hero).

So, two great franchises on the ropes, who thinks that these games will be anywhere near the success that the franchises originally had? How would you like to see the next Spyro and Sonic games made?
