COD4 is actually quite fun to play 2v2 in splitscreen. The campaign is also pretty solid, worth a few play-throughs, and of course there's the online multiplayer which is pretty much the most played game on either console.

Aside from that, you could get a Sports game. Madden is a blast with 4 people, even if some of them aren't that good, it's fun to play with friends. If you don't like Football, there's soccer, basketball, golf, tennis, etc.

But you hit the nail on the head, LittleBigPlanet will be ultimate with 2-4 people locally. I can already imagine having friends over and playing it right through the night just downloading levels and beating em.

^^^Sorry can't help you with that. But you should be able to see if they support multiplayer on Google.

I can tell you however, that Burnout, Grid, and Dirt are all excellent racing games. Burnout has a great arcade feel and is easy to pick up, hard to put down. Grid and Dirt are more simulation-based, but equally well done. Motorstorm has gotten great reviews as well, but I've never played it.
