PS One, PS2 and PS3 games........

It has been confirmed that PS One and PS2 games will be compatible with the new PS3. This is quite a major point, as a lot of games would have been worthless.

The only downside is that graphics and sound for the older games will be a shadow of the new PS3 games, but you cant have everything.

That is good news - but I know what you mean about loading up old games into new consoles. I loaded up some original Gameboy games into Gameboy Colour and thought that was bad enough in terms of looking at the graphics. The older games will probably have new versions coming out anyway.

Im really glad that the developers are putting a bigger enphasis on the compatability between old and new consoles.

Its also a good way to stop sales of PS2 games slowing down on the run up to the PS3's launch.

I would guess that making the consoles compatable does wonders for sales of both old / new games, as well as the new consoles.

People will be more inclined to buy the PS3, if they know that there old games will work on it. They will also be tempted to buy the newer games, to see the full graphics and sound capability of the PS3.

To be honest I couldn't see them being anything else as they (Sony) know that they have a great deal of competition in this market and this is one of the points which has been a big bug bear for the consumers in the past.
