Cables that come with the PS3

Just got a phone call from gamestation saying that i can go pick my PS3 up on friday no problems......also asked what game i wanted and i said....................fall of man.................ok ok................was just wondering if the cables that come with the PS3 (just the red white and yellow) can produce a good picture on a HDTV? because my 360 is taking up the composit slots and my Wii taking up the Scart socket..............so can it produce a good HD picture with original cables?

the composite cables (red white and yellow) that came with the PS3 is not capable of producing HD quality signals. You will get a fuzzy 480i picture. To truly experience HD, you need a set of component or HDMI cables. You can get a component switch for your TV and connect both your 360 and PS3 on it.

Do you have to buy a special HDMI cable as i have a spare HDMI to HDMI cable at home?

I am not sure where you can find them in the UK, but almost every electronics store in the US have them. You want a component audio / video switch (YPbPr), not a composite. For example this one will do...

I thought the Wii looked pretty good on HD, there are actually component cables available for it, which will allow it to output progressive scan signals (480p)...

Hi guys, was just wondering if there is anything which i can buy to turn my normal tv into a hdtv to play ps3? Any help would be great? I did hear that there is a convertor, which can allow a std tv to play hd, not sure if this is true?

Thanks

Perhaps you're thinking of those digital-to-analog converters? You'll be able to receive HD signals, but downgraded to SD so your TV can display it.
