Hi can anyone help me. I am going to China in a few weeks and plan to buy a PS3 from either china or hong kong. Are there any problems that anyone knows about if I do this and try to use it in Australia???

i dont think you will i was as i know there made to work any where with any dics.

Try to get one from Hong Kong, and not china,
the hong kong ps3 has updated firmware which allows it to play PAL DVDs, major advantage... and if the have the same plug socket as the UK HK is again better.
Hong Kong has NO VAT, i think China does.
China plays different Blue ray disc regions i think, HK is the same as US and Japon (region A... and China is asia, Region C)

Im getting my GF to bring me a HK PS3 =P
only hk$3780 from Sony Store, so probably cheaper if u go to Mong Kok or something.

Seeing as how PS3 has not launched in China, it's the same deal as getting a HK PS3... or Japanese. You might want to ask them to make sure.

Hi, I have the HK version PS3 in the UK, with the latest system update v1.6 it plays all region dvd`s where as before this update it would only play regipn 3 (jap) plays original and backups, so far I have tried PAL UK and US NTSC (regions 1 and 2) with no problems. No backwards compat with
other regions PS2 games yet though.

Sony isn't going to lift their own regional lock-out for the older medium.

Doesn`t matter PS2 still up and running with about 150 games
