What kind of speakers are you using? You probably could use the component or composite cables for most stereo systems.

Just the standard speakers on my TV mate...thing is DVI does not output sound. Is there a component cable available for the PS3?

Sounds must be routed separately from DVI by using the S/PDIF optical out or AV multiout, as many have mentioned, the red and white RCA cables go into your stereo, or if you have a receiver, you can use the S/PDIF optical out to connect to the receiver.
