So you are trying to convert your notebook into an accesspoint for the PS3? OK, what you will have to do is to switch the notebook's wireless adapter from infrastructure mode to ad-hoc mode, then you must assign your notebook a unique SSID, a static IP address, and a unique channel number (ie. 6,11 etc).
Similar with the notebook, the PS3 must also operate under ad-hoc mode. In addition, you must also make sure the PS3 is operating in the same channel and subnet as the notebook. For instance, if I gave my WiFi card on the notebook an SSID of "test", a static IP address of "192.168.3.1", while operating in channel 11 range, then I must set my PS3 to connect to SSID "test", with a static IP address range of 192.168.3.2 - 192.168.3.254, and the PS3 must also be set to operate on channel 11.
Once you have done all of the above, then your PS3 and your notebook will be able to talk to each other, and at this point you must enable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service and route the connection from your ethernet adapter to your wireless adapter, please refer to the hardware / network FAQ to see how to route with ICS. Hope this helps.
