Does the Japanese PS3 play UK PS3 Games and Blue Ray Movies?

or is my brother who is in japanese touting that he can get one for £200 talking out of his nether regions.

He can play UK games, but not movies. The PS3 is regionlocked when it comes to playing movies (blue ray and dvd). You can import movies from USA as the Japanese model is R1.

my jap ps3 didnt not play full auto 2 battle which was PAL game. but so far played others
