What System have I got?

Hi guys. I start off by sayig: WHAT THE HELL!!!! And near the end I will say it again. By then you will understand why...

I bought my system off eBay and the guy turned out to be a scammer.

The system was listed as shipping from London and was listed as a Jap system
Instead it shipped from Taiwan and has not a single Japanese Kana or even Chinese Kanji in the manual.

As far as I know there are no Taiwan models, only EU, HK, Jap and US models.
The manual states that it is backwards compatible with NTSC-J so I think it is Japanese
But it plays DVDs from Region 3 which is Taiwan (and I think Hong Kong) but not Japan

From what I read, though, the Hong Kong model comes with a UK plug whereas mine has a 2 pin plug and adaptor... and also a separate grounding cable coming out of the cable that I have nowhere to plug into so it is a potential risk during thunderstorms!!!

I have read that the Jap version has built in voltage regulation so any PC power cable will work with it but that the US version does not. What about the HK version?

I want to get another cable for the PS3 but I am not willing to put a cable in, plug it in and see if it doesn't blow up. I want to figure out if it has voltage regulation but for that I will need to know what country this is actually from. I am no good at reading voltage info from a manual so I turn to you for help.

I thought I knew about regions and stuff and knew I know nothing about electricity but this thing has gotten me totally stumped.

Aparently Hong kong is a PAL country that uses NTSC-J video for PS3 but their PAL is different to the UK PAL just as NTSC-J is differnt from NTSC-US. On top of that the HK PAL NTSC-J system is now able to play PAL and NTSC DVDs after the 1.6 firmware update but apparently you also get Region 2 Pal and Region 2 NTSC while NTSC itself consists out of NTSC-J and NTSC-US

With all this confusion I have to have a Japanese system from London shipped to me from Taiwan with no Japanese text in the manual but playing discs from the HK region but with a power cord different than that of the HK model PS3...

What the hell man??!?!?!!?!?

And just to add to the confusion I am now waiting for a patch to allow me to play PAL PS2 games on this NTSC-J only system.
Does anyone know if US PS2 games will play on a NTSC-J system and if not, are all NTSC-J games in Japanese only?
