Hardware not detected
Why is the PS3 such a pain in the arse?
it doesn't even show my USB harddrive at all. Not as an unknown device or anything. It just won't show it.
i put in an SD card and it tells me there are no images on it. I do the triangle thing and it tells me there are 19 images on it. I look again and it tells me there are no images on it. I do the triangle thing, it tells me there are 19 images on it. I format the card in the PS3, now my phone and my camera can't use it any more. not even to format it...
I plug in my 30G iPod Video and it simply does not see it. Not as an unrecognised device. Nothing. it simply doesn't recognise it.
it took me 3 weeks to figure out what settings to use to encode a video so the PS3 would recognise it and the whole time i was forced to erase a RW disc and wait 26mins for the videos to be written at 2x just so I can see if the video worked with the new settings. Why does it not recognise my SD card's content or my iPod or my USB HDD?
My iPod has the latest upgrades via iTunes. My card had data on it that it could see but couldn't see and my HDD is formatted to a Mac file format so that might have something to do with it... maybe...
Help, please?

I think i understand. You mean create an image like an IOS on your computer then place it onto the internal HDD of the PS3 to make it work?
If so, wtf. The entire basis of the PS3's simplicity (*cough cough*) was based around plug and play.

English, people. English. I speak every language known to man but I do NOT speak Greek and this sounds Greek to me :P
I have never before in my life felt this useless in front of a PC
Let me ask it this way: Has anyone gotten their PS3 to detect their external hard drive?
If so, what file system was your HDD using? Fat32? NTFS?

Another thing that gets on my nerves is how it only seems to play mpeg4. £425 for a "home entertainment center" that wont play most of my entertainment....ok...wont play most of my porn.

That makes more sense. So basically, it has to be set up exactly like the PSP. That way everything falls into its proper station once its connected. Simple, but i would never have thought of it. Solid. Thanks for the info.
EDIT
All my movies are AVI... a couple are other folders but the majority is AVI. You 100% that it wasnt play them? I have gigs of anime i wanna watch :\

All my movie files are AVI that are on my HDD at the moment, so i understand that it isnt picking up the movies, the music isnt picking up either, and instead of saying no device found, its not coming up with anything again. What exactly is your file called? ps3? PS3? Playstation3?
