Hi there, im new to the board and would be very grateful for a bit of help.

I recently bought a Samsung PS42Q97HD Plasma TV, I just received my HDMI cable, which im assured is V1.3

I Plugged the cable into HDMI slot 1 on the TV and into the HDMI slot on th PS3 and nothing happened.
The TV wouldnt pick it up, and I couldn't get any picture.

I plugged the lead that came with the PS3 into the Yellow/white/red ports on the side of the TV and it immediately recognised it.

Just wondering if anyone can point oiut where im going wrong, as its getting really annoying now!!!!

Try restarting the console while the hdmi cabel is plugged in and make sure you don't have the composite/scart cabel in as well. The PS3 should then pick up the hdmi signal and you should be good to go.

You have selected the right input on your TV? Sounds like you have more than one hdmi port.

Or you could just plug it into the HDMI socket then hold down the power button till you hear the second beep.

Many (not really) users have this problem.
It seems that PS3 can't boot HDMI.
Try this:
1: Close PS3 from the back button (for power supply) wait 5-10 minutes and open the back button.
2: Now pres for 10 seconds the red lighted button (this will random the output settings)
3: If you still don't have image from HDMI plug on ps3 the cable that came with ps3
4: Switch to the tv channel (not HDMI but RBG SCART) and select now the output to HDMI

If it still doesn't work close both TV and PS3 for 1-3 hours and then try again.

I heard Plasmas aren't good for consoles but I'll still try to help you out. Make sure the wire isn't loose or go to display settings and follow the steps. Thats the only things I could think of.

Hi guys

Thanks for your help, but I tried all the ideas and it still wont work.

Whats annoying me is that is a brancd new TV, cable and PS3 and yet it wont even acknowledge the fact that the cable is there.

I cant for the life of me even figure out how to skip to the HDMI output on the TV and its not like im a complete novice on TVs.

Anyway I can only think the cable is a dud, but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
