hey i was wondering what should i get if i was going to download the firmware updates from the internet but i don't want to run a 40 ft cord from the living room to my computer room...i don't know what kind of device or what it is called so that i can plug it into my computer...download...then plug it into my ps3...then upload...

any help will be greatly appreciated

and also can you download games and such from the ps3 store onto it and put it in your ps3 the same way as the firmware???

hope this all makes sense...

i would say a memory stick/card will do the job, but i never tryed it. Why dont u get a wireless router insted of cable.

because it is already hooked up and i dont wanna pay to get a wireless...plus i don't go online all that much for gaming and i heard that if you have wireless there are a lot of connection problems but i don't knonw if that is true....i'll just stick to what i got

right, if you've got a memory stick at the ready then use that...or a usb stick (isn't that the same thing) so plug that into the PC and go onto it, if you know what i mean. Then within the memory stick create a folder called PS3 (must be in caps) then inside that folder make another called UPDATE...ok now once you've done all that go onto the sony playstation site and find the update, download it to the file UPADATE which is within the PS3 folder you've just made and save it into there........nowwwwwww take it out and plug it into the PS3 and then just go onto update on the menu dashboard thingy and it's done.........wallah! you've got the latest update =]

I agree, get a wireless router if you can. Then you can play online too

hey orbit this site kicks ass but you have to have a sense of humor and not get pissed when people aim below the belt (because it happens alot here)

there are a bunch of fairies on here that get all hyped up when someone says something that hurts their little feelings

but over all we have some cool heated debates! its fun

u can use a usb flash drive to add the firmware to the ps3 just put it in any of the usb drive open a new folder in cap name PS3 then inside that open one with UPDATES now download the firmware from the net if done right the ps3 will pick it up go to system storage device update

there is a firmware out called 1.82 i think its on the playstation.us sight
its only for ps3 in the american region though

but rb6 just gave me the 1.70 version

now if i never got the 1.6 version but i got the next one do i still get the crap in the 1.6 version or what??
how does that all work out

No worries man, I spend a lot of time of motorcycle forums and they're just like that too. It's the way a forum should be. You gotta have a bit of fun after all. Too many forums are a bit to regulated imho.
