Ok, im going to be getting satellite internet soon. than im going to be hooking my PS3 up to the internet, but exactly how do i do it?

like it says i need a router?.....and it says broadban internet....well AOL broadban work for that? and anything else i may need can you tell me what it is and what to do?

it would be very wonderful if anyone could help me out or give me a site that will help me out.

also, how do you pay for PSN games?

psn games u sybmit ur card details wen u register. then trabsfer ur funds from ur account tour psn id and then u jus buy it, cant help with the internet though really dont know

Just a suggestion: If another type of broadband connection besides Satellite is available in your area, I would use that instead. Satellite connections tend to be on par with low end ADSL, which is definitely faster than dial up. However, Satellite internet/broadband tends to be more expensive than ADSL/DSL.

I think you’re getting the term broadband a little confused. AOL broadband is DSL (I believe). If you are getting satellite internet you wouldn't need AOL at all, unless you’re really like AOL explorer..... In which case go ahead and use AOL 9.0 etc...

If you don't have a credit card, debit/check cards will sometimes work as credit cards. Gift cards can also work in the same way.

I use my debit card as a Credit Card all the time and it has never failed.

When I was under 18, I used a Simon Mall gift card to pay my Everquest subscription, you can even put more money on them.

You won't be able to play online with satellite internet. I have had it for about 4 or 5 years. The upload is too slow.

ohh, ok....well its ether this dial-up or satellite at the moment here. so should i just use dial-up to play online and download from online? because its going to be probally a couple months before DSl or cable gets to my area

and on the back of games it says u need broadban....so what exactly do u mean when u say i dont need aol broadban or whatever?....

AOL broadband is a name for their service. AOL broadband uses a DSL (digital subscriber line) as a connection as opposed to dial-up.

The thing that confuses people about dial up and AOL is that that there are two different parts, AOL likes to make it seem like one.

What confuses people is AOL's software, is that most ISP's don't require you to use their software to connect to their service.

If you go with your local phone provider’s dial-up they probably will just give you the access number and a username and password, and you would use the software in windows and your modem to connect via dial-up.

AOL makes you download their software and sign into their service etc.

So AOL Broadband is just their name for you using AOL software to connect via a DSL versus dial-up.

I would call your local phone company to see if DSL is available, they can give you a straight answer because they control the phone lines. Companies like AOL, and Verizon in most cases lease the line from the local phone company.

(DSL uses the unused frequency range on phone wire to transfer data.)

Go with satellite and you will at least be able to download content. What service are you going with? I am not to fond if mine, but I'm in the same boat that you're in. Cable/DSL doesn't come out to my house. They also basically cut off my internet if I download too much in a given period of time. I've never heard of Cable or DSL doing that.

so i wouldnt need a internet called broadban, like AOL broadban to connect to PSN and download/play online against people. so what exactly does it mean on the back of games when it says enthernet broadband required? and can i get some sort of broadband with dial-up? because im going to wait for DSL/Cable to get to my area, i just dont need to pay so much for it. i hope theres some way i can use dial-up for now to download from PSN and game online.

also, its saying something about some sort of Router in my PS3 book, is that found at like walmart and how much does it normally cost?

to get psn games, go to target and get a psn card

Broadband encompasses such internet connections as: DSL (digital subcriber line, Cable internet, Fiber Optics, as well as Cellphone Broadband cards, Some consider Satellite broadband but it really isn't that fast.

Your best bet is satellite if you are definitely sure Broadband is not available in your area. Don't just check the website actually call your phone company, or the Cable provider if you have not already.
