Check this. Another good reason why Blu-Ray was a sound choice when deciding what format to store games on.

the dvd format IS already showing its age...technology advances at a rapid rate and only continues....i remember in high school i was on top of every technology advance there was...now i'm just trying to adjust to whats in front of me...its suprising how everything advances these days...i remember when cds first came out...no more with the fast forwarding to tracks all you had to ddo was press a button and bam next track...sony really knew what was what with games getting bigger and more in detail they had to know that br was the way to go..i mean come on with the standard br of two layers you get 50+ gb i think it is like 54 or something....sony knows what they are doing and i am proud to own a sony console.......boy am i glad i chose to buy a sony rather than a ms..they have been in the industry longer and know the choices to make no matter who critizises the box just got served with a lesson

sony has been number 1 in technology since the 80's you name it sony has done it. they always seem to do everything right so it's not a big deal that they went with blue ray, they know whats needed and what will last. also add in the fact that sony knows hardware while microsoft mainly knows software.

I thought it was interesting. It's not often we PS3 owners get a much good news, but I class this as good. Shows that Sony knew what they were doing all along. It's also good for people like me because I am a huge fan of Unreal Tournament as was going to get this, I can now feel proud that the PS3 version will indeed be superior to the 360 version. It's just a shame that we gotta wait until 16th November before we can get our hands on this.

any normal thinking person can see that going with blu ray was the obvious choice!!! it just makes sense!!!!

Too true. I also read that MS have given the green light to allow HDD only games which is a bit of a twat if you own the core version of the 360 which doesn't come with a HDD. Essentially they're forcing you to upgrade to a higher spec machine.. MS really know how to look after their customers!!

I've always been on the side of Blu-Ray. I even stopped buying DVD's now so I can take advantage of all of my PS3's capabilities by buying Blu-Ray movies. In a couple of years time I think we'll see a shift in games production from 360 over to PS3 because Blu-Ray doesn't rely on compression, and therefore, no loss of detail, unlike DVD. With DVd there has to be a compromise, either smaller games or compression on such a scale that there may be a trade off such as a loss of textures or high quality sound.

Heavenly Sword takes up 10gb of space on a Blu-Ray disc solely for music and sounds. This sort of thing just would not be possible on a DVD 9.

i hate MS after having to shit 360's!!!
my mates at work still have 360's and i know this sounds nasrty but i so want the to break!!!!!

Now I know why you're called EVILWaterman. That's just pure unadulterated evil right to the core there. Funny though because I wished the same thing on my mate's 360. His did evenually break and now he's got rid and getting a PS3.

I was at a friends house and his dog stepped on his 360 and broke it.he said "Ehh it would have done that anyway..." and we went to the Gamestop near by and he picked up a PS3.
