PS3 on BENQ 20.1" Computer Monitor.. res issues
so... i have a ps3, in a box, and i don't wanna open it, without being 100% sure of something. i have a benq 20.1" computer monitor, it has a DVI input, but does not support HDCP. now; i get a HDMI to DVI cable, plug it in, and fire up the monitor and system. according to sony, the ps3 will detect the resolutions the TV or monitor supports and maximize it. there's been some problems, and i have some concerns. firstly, the resolution on my monitor is 1680x1050, just under 1080p, and its in a different aspect ratio 16x10 instead of 16x9 on tvs. will this cause problems? will it stretch the aspect ratio? or will it get mad and blow up or something? sony's said there's been an issue where tvs that dont support 720p get sized down to standard tube resolution (420p or something) even if the tv has 1080i. that issue isnt specific to my situation, but it is a resolution issue nonetheless... and it worries me. another problem, what's the deal with HDCP? does this only apply to blueray movies? or to the games too? if its just for movies then i dont care because i'm not going to switch to the blueray or HD-DVD format yet... soooooo what do i do?!? i wanna open this bad boy but i'm scared! lolz thanks guys
