60GB version

hey... have they stopped producing this and only continue with 40 GB? So basically, are they just selling the 60 GB machines that have already been produced, or is the 60GB version still being produced?

thanks, if ayone has any idea, just lemme know.. cos my brother wants to buy a ps3 eventually, but really wants option to play ps2 classics as well, and also wants to wait for the price to decrease a lot.. so basically, the 60GB version much later... appreciate any help!

Hi TC47, the 60 GB PS3s have been discontinued. They are no longer in production, and Sony is simply selling off their existing stock.

If you live in the US / Canada (North America) region, then you would probably want to pick up a 60 GB model, since it is equipped with the PS2 Emotion Engine chipset, and has better compatibility with PS2 games. However, if you live in the PAL territories, then it doesn't really matter, since all PS3s (except the 40 GB models) are using software emulation for PS2 games.
