HD Hookup

I currently have my PS3 hooked up to my plasma through the HDMI output on the back of the PS3. Instead of straight HDMI to HDMI, it is HDMI to component plugs. I do not seem to be getting a 1080 picture though.

Can anyone help with this. Has anyone been able to get a 1080 picture using this hookup.

It has to be HDMI to HDMI to get 1080i or 1080p, you can go to component or you will degrade the signal.

As above, component signals are still analogue, i.e. they send voltage, in waves an stuff. For a true HD connection you need to go HDMi - HDMi which allows digital transfer of information, in proper I's & 0's :o)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Plasma TV's go up to 1080P yet! What kind of TV do you have?
