connect to pc wirelessly without router
hello. I just got my new ps3 and tried to connect to my pc but had no luck. I am using a wireless dongle. can I connect my ps3 wirelessly using ad-hoc or infrastructure mode? or is there a special setting that I set the dongle to, when using the wireless zero configuration utility? thanks!

The PS3 has in built wi-fi so no need for a dongle.

Sorry, I only just read the title. Well, why would you want to connect to the PC anyway? Use the ethernet cable if that is possible. Or even better, buy a router.

well, as you know it's the 31st dec today, no ethernet cable around here atm, and no stores open to buy a cable or a router. so I am stuck with the dongle.. :/

Yeah, because without the router, the dongle isn't actually picking up any wireless from anywhere. It needs something whoch sends out wireless, but the PS3 only recieves it, if you get what I mean. |

You have two options:
1. Buy a router
2. Use an ethernet cable (Came with PS3)

ps3 -at least in my country- doesn't come with an ethernet cable - also states so in the manual.
moreover my wi-fi dongle also SENDS packages. if it only recieved it wouldn't be able to be recognised by my laptop or vice-versa :P
anyway, is there anyone that can actually answer me if it can be done or not?

The European ps3 came with an Ethernet  but we didnt get a Blu ray movie.

well i also got a european 40gb ver and the manual states ethernet cable NOT included... anyway...

hehe.....guess they decided not to include the cable with the new ps3, but I got one with the 60gb version, but I also payed full price before all the price drops.....

Yeah, it definitely comes with the 60gb version. Buit only the elite buy that.

I got the 40g american ps3 and i have to say that spiderman 3 was kind of a let down and i would have much rather had the ethernet cable.
