Well the title says it all. Are ps3 intercoolers worth it and do they really extend the life of the ps3, extend how long you can play the ps3 without overheating it, increase or maintain the speed of the ps3, and finally does it stop or limit the ps3 from freezing.

I personally wouldn't bother the PS3 is quite good at heat management as long asthere is plenty of room for air to circulate around it. Its entirely up to the individual user as to whether or not they want that extra assurance of extra fans/intercoolers. I think that overall it would just make the PS3 louder but as I've never owned after market coolers for game consoles i cant comment.
My advice just make sure your console isn't cramped up or shoved in a corner where air cant ventilate it and make sure the vents etc are clear as best you can

I own a ps3 intercooler, i woudnt reccoment it. Its loud, slows down the ps3, Yes thats right it slows it down. If you buy thr usb one like myself then it uses to much power via the usb sockets. It does cool it down and stop freezing a bit but its not worth having the tv on full volume and slowing the ps3 down leading to sometimes crashes.

you dont need one unless your ps3 is situated in the oven

I remember first getting the PS3 and being a little worried about the amount of heat it produced, but i've never had any overheating issues at all and agree with the other replies about a 3rd party intercooler not being really needed.

They should really make an Xbox cooler tbh, that thing is LOUD!

They do make a 360 intercooler lol my mate bought one and says its made his 360 unbelievably loud lol

Read reviews for those coolers, most of them almost seem like fire hazards or add-ons that actually cause damage to the console. I wouldn't buy one for any money.

never needed one so far, ps3 runs at a steady temperature and cools almost immediately after turning it off, its only slightly loud when loading games with lots of data and even then nothing compared to the boeing 747 engine, i mean xbox,lol

Agreed. I just realised I never gave a point! It's not like the PS3 heats up that bad anyway.

i agree with everyone else, you do not need it. it will just make everthing loud and another con is that it will use much more power from the system thus causing a slower ps3/crashes.
