Hi, I'm thinking about buying a PS3 to hook up to my PC monitor and wold like some help to figure out what I'd need to do so. I've got a Samsung 275t monitor, which has a single DVI input (presently used by my PC) and a component input. However I hear that the component input doesn't support 1080p, so I'd need to plug it to my DVI input, using a converter and switch I guess, but then I'm wondering if there's a way to redirect the PS3 sound to my pc speakers as well. I've got a X-Fi audio sound card. Could anybody with a longer attention span than me figure out what I'd need to set this all up?

All you need is a HDMI to DVI cable or adapter. What type of inputs does your sound card have?

Hes right for hooking it up to the monitor, but to get the sound you will have to use another output on the playstation to hook up to your sound card. In the ps3's options you can choose which output for sound and which output for video.

Optical will be your only choice...unless it will allow you to use multiout just for sound.

just get and adapter like geo said.

But no you probably wont be able to use your pc speakers

Most high end sound cards have optical input though.

I was stating that because I didn't know what quality his sound card is.
