Hi everybody.

Got myself an optical cable so I can hook my ps3's sound up to the pc and have 5.1 surround, now, this works fine when using the XMB or playing music through the ps3, but, when it comes to playing games or dvd's/BD's I get nothing, no sound at all, I have it selected in the options to play through the optical but I cannot see anywhere to alter the destination of the audio of dvd's or bd's.

Anyone got any thoughts on this ?

If you set it up to use the optical calbles then all sound should go throught, including dvd's and bd's

It should, but, it doesn't, hence my question as to if anyone knows why it ain't doing so ?

You need to goto the audio settings option on your PS3 and change the output to optical

I had the same problem recently - enjoy the 5.1 goodness!

Edit: Sorry missed the part that said you already changed that, might be worth double-checking your audio settings on the ps3 though. I'll have a search around for you, but because you're clearly getting the sound output from normal discs, could it be that your HDMI connection is somehow overriding the optical output?

I am not getting any audio from discs at all, just the normal hard drive and xmb, totally confused as to why it should be any different when playing a disc be it normal cd, dvd or bd.

I shall have a play around later and see if I have missed anything, but, I don't think I have.
