I just bought a PS3 about a week ago along with Rock Band. When i initally set up the PS3 i set it up with the HDMI cable. Because of the lag it has when i plug it into my DLP TV i tried to hook it up to my surround sound with the supplied AV cable to see if that would work.. I am getting no response not even a signal detection.. I know the cables are good because i double checked them by hooking up my PS2. Do i have to do somthing to the system to transfer to AV cables or should it detect it on its own? The only thing i could think of is that the PS3 has a faulty AV jack. I am about to return the system but i dont want to if i'm judt missing somthing here. Can some one help me resolve this problem. Thanks

Have you double checked the settings in your PS3 menu, you may have to change from HDMI?I'm not sure but might be worth taking a look.

To do that i go to settings then what? I'm still not too familiar with the menu just got it 4 days ago..

ok, try to navigate to the Settings icon (from the main screen). Head down to [Display Settings], and select [Video Output Settings].

you cant use the av cable while using htmi cable i dont think
