Hey so this is my first post. I ran out and bought a PS3 as soon as I heard the 80gb model might be discontinued (already owned a wii which I love), seeing as i've never owned a ps2 before having atleast some backwards compatibility was important to me. Now I have the system sitting in my room with resistance sittign next to it. I'm really itching to play the thing, but i'm afriad that the second I open it sony will officially talk about the much rumored 120/160 replacement model. Now, if they only upgrade is the hard drive, I really don't care because I can replace that on my own, but if it has DS3, or a better pack in game than Motorstorm, or even better ps2 compatibility then thats the model I want (assuming it would be coming out rather soon, not 8 months from now).

So I have come here to ask your opinion, Should I open it or not? If I wait past Feb 24th then I can't return it anyway so I mind as well jsut open now.

I'd say open it, their are rumors of a 120/160gb PS3 that does come with DS3 controllers and a couple other little things but they will be basically very similar if you want a bigger HDD you can upgrade it manually as you say (and you can get ones a lot bigger than 160gb lol) And you can just buy the DS3 controllers on their own (something I will be doing when they come out in the UK)

If i where you mate I'd open up that beast and start enjoying the best home game console ever built.

IMO go ahead and open it. When I had a 360, I was fine with a 20gb. Now that I have a 80gb PS3, I'm sure I'll be perfectly fine lol.

Like mentioned, if it's DS3 you're worried about, just buy them with the money you would've put towards the bigger system.
