I have the HDMI, of my PS3, hooked to my TV and the optical output, on the PS3, to my receiver. I have to keep going into settings to switch the audio to either the tv or the receiver. Can anyone tell me how to set it up so that both HDMI & optical are being output.
When you set up the video using the PS3 -- it should take you through a couple steps to set up the video (step one: what type of connection, step two: what supported resolutions, then sometimes the screen goes black for a second and it asks you if you want to keep the settings). At the end of the video setup (I think after you've hit X to accept the settings), you get a choice to either exit, or set up the audio.
Select the audio option and set the output for optical (its a totally different selection than HDMI... and I think its toward the bottom of the short list).
Otherwise, you can just go to the audio settings from the PS3 menu and change it to Optical.
I'm not looking at any of the menus right now -- just remembering how it went when I did the same thing you're trying to do now.
yes, I know how to select the output audio, but I am looking on how to have both HDMI and optical output at the same time, so I dont have to keep going back to switch it back and forth depending on if I want to listen to the audio thru my tv or stereo.
Ahh heck... sorry about that.
In that case... I'm not sure if its possible. I've got HDMI running to my monitor (a monitor with speakers). Before switching my audio to regular AV -- the monitor had sound through its speakers. Now, only my computer speakers get sound. If you figure out a way to have both going at the same time -- let us know.
