An Owner's PS3 Questions

Hey everyone. I've owned my 80GB PS3 since the end of December (2007) and I've been observing a couple things that I'm not sure are totally ''normal.''

First off, is the fan supposed to be loud? After about 20 mins into a game or movie, I can definitely hear it - I would say it's in gear 3. It's not totally noticeable when playing, but if I pause or it's a quiet moment in a movie, I can hear the little bugger chugging away.

2nd: I noticed in Uncharted that the Frame Rate drags at the start of chapters, Normal?

3rd: For the first time today, it froze. I was simply changing one setting on my XMB (display setting, saying just to recognize 1080p, to see if it'd work with Uncharted) and after pressing O, it froze. Had to go up and hold the button to let it restart, where it beeped at me 3 times.

I love my PS3, but I just want to know if any of these are defects or anything. thanks

Well I purchased a fan, and after having it for a while it started to make sounds I think that is normal becase my friends fan is doing the same thing.

but the fan that came inside my PS3 works just fine no sounds or anything

Uh...
Are you talking about like a room fan? Because that explination doesn't make a ton of sense, unless you're talking about an intercooler or something

Um, that's neat... Good for you I guess?

Another thing to add: Tonight, playing Uncharted, it skipped during a cinematic.. Normal?

were do you have the ps3?

if its in a cramped area then it might be over heating slightly, making the fan work harder and the games may skip

In a totally quite room I hear mine. No skipping yet.
I've had several freezes. I figure it's like my computer sometimes it's APITA !

I know most of you have replied ''heat'' as if it is the absolute positive answer, but unfortunately naught.
It's in a very open entertainment center, with feet of room around it.
