PS3 Fan Not Working?

to make a long story short i went to wal-mart and seen that 30$ so called "inter-cooler" which is merely a plastic cover with 5 fans that connects to the back and top of the PS3, well anyway i've been using it for a little while because it exhausts a lot of hot air in the system BUT i took it off one day and turned on the PS3 without it and the fan/fans inside the PS3 are not working ,i can barely feel them blowing in the back, i feel a slight amount of hot air just coming out of the back, no blowing, and usually when you put in a game it kicks up right? like the fans turn on high? it doesnt do that, so my question is did this "inter-cooler" suction the fans inside the ps3 and strip them out!? thats what im getting from this and it IRATES me, and will sony fix it? i've only had my PS3 for about 2 months, if that. appreciate it

the inter cooler is not a good fan many things can go wrong with it, next time get the one that just connects to the top you can find it at gamestop it looks something like the one on this page:
