I have an Akai tv and I purchased a HDMI/DVI conversion cable because it didnt have the spot to put the HDMI cable in the tv. When I connect the cables and turn on the ps3, it says "An available HDMI device was detected. Do you want to output video and audeo using HDMI?" I click yes and nothing happens, the screen just stays blank. I also turned off the ps3 and turned it back on while holding the power button until the second beep came and it still didn't work. If I do can anyone explain to me how to fix it because I am not sure how to setup my ps3 probably since I just bought it and never used an HDMI before. I also looked at the other related posts but I still couln't figure out the problem. I think my tv is unable to support HDMI, I would appreciate it alot if someone can tell me, thank you.

yea mate ya tv is ed and does not have or support hdtv so either use the av cable that came with ya console or the more exspensive way is go buy a hdtv ok it be fine on that edtv just not got that crisp definition of hd tv so play it with ya av cable m8 ya will enoy if ya aint seen hdtv with ps3 then ya aint missed anthing yea so cable ya tv up and get playing good luck and enjoy ya console

Hi Your tv can support digital signal if you look at your Video features on the product information it supports Input Video Formats: 480p, 720p, 1080i, 480i
I think what you need to do is make sure you conect the hdmi lead to the ps3 then conect the other end to the dvi input and change the av setting on tv remote to dvi. and it should work. I have a lg tv and it does not have a hdmi slot so i use a hdmi lead and a dvi connector and change my av settings to dvi and i can use my ps3 in hd. but you wont get sound so what you have to do is connect the av lead that you get with the ps3 and connect it to the left and right sound input on tv and change the sound setting in the ps3 menu.

Are you sure the 'output video and audio' option was the right idea if it is indeed output. Surely what you want to do is input audio and video to your tv.
