My Controller Wont Connect!!

My ps3 shows a screen that says "CONNECT THE CONTROLLER USING A USB CABLE, AND THEN PRESS THE PS BUTTON." I have tried this and all it does is blink. Does anyone have any idea how to connect it? I have two ps3's so the controller works fine on my other system. For some reason it will not connect. Could it be a bluetooth problem? Thank you!

Please understand. The controller does not work on bluetooth or plugged in . It just shows the same screen, and will not move. Could it maybe be the usb it self?

I am having the exact same problem. I even bought a brand new controller. I just got the system today, it is a refurbished unit. I plug in the controller and no lights light up or anything. System is still asking me to plug in a controller.

Yeah I have a feeling it might be the bluetooth port. Hopefully somebody has fixed a problem like this.

I used a different USB Cable and it works fine now.

Yeah I tried that too. For some reason it won't work with either cord..The lights still blink but no syncing.
