HDMI No Signal

Hi new to the forums. I have recently hooked my ps3 up to my lg hdtv with hdmi. When i change the input on the tv to my hdmi i get a no signal black screen. I have tried different hdmi ports on the tv as well as different hdmi cables. I have tried many solutions. Restoring defaults, display settings turning the tv and ps3 off, just about everything i have read. Does anybody have any ideas to try. The tv itself sees something plugged into it because you can see the hdmi imput that the ps3 is hooked too. Any help would be great.

Try resetting the video options. I believe the way you do it is press the power button on the PS3 its self to get it to turn on. After it initially beeps keep holding the power buttion till it beeps again this resets the video settings and lets you set it up with HDMI

I'm having the same issue. I recently purchased a Sony Bravia 55" (KDL-55v5100). The only device attached is a PS3. Yesterday I pulled up the input selection menu on the TV, the HDMI 1 port was highlighted, acknowledging the cable from the PS3. I selected it only to receive the infamous no signal message.

This happened once before about two weeks ago. I search the boards for solutions and finally came across the Bravia firmware update ER4.11-E2 from Sony. The problem was fixed after updating. This time, however, nothing helps.

I've tried all suggestions: (1) changing HDMI cables; (2) unplugging everything: powercords, HDMI cable, etc. and waiting to plug them in again; (3) doing a video reset by turning off the PS3 and turning it on by touching the power button until it beeps twice; (4) using the AV component cable for the PS3 (which the TV recognizes) to manually switch the PS3's picture display to HDMI; (5) turning the TV on first and then the PS3; and (6) I've even reinstalled the TV firmware update hoping it would help.

I'm not sure if the problem lies with the TV or the PS3 but I'd bet on the TV. Last time, updating the television firmware corrected the problem. The PS3 has always recognized when an HDMI cable is connected and automatically adjusts the picture settings. If I use the AV component cable the TV recognizes the input. Then, if I attach the HDMI cable, the PS3 acknowledges it and suggests using that output instead of the component output. If I select OK and the appropriate HDMI port on the TV - the TV displays no signal.

I'm getting fairly frustrated. This appears to be a common issue with no standard resolution or support. I'll sent an email to Sony eSupport today. So I'll update if I hear back.

Simple solution. Hold the power button until you hear a few beeps, and it'll have your HDMI compatible. Now, go to video output, press HDMI output and from there you must change your tv settings to HDMI also, in order for it to show. Hope I helped somehow!
