Flash Drive

Is it possible to put songs or pictures on a Flash Drive and put it onto the PS3?

Everytime I try, it says that there is nothing on the device

Matt, if you saved them in a folder on the flash drive, you have to choose to view all contents in the flash drive. I think you need to press "triangle" or "square" (Don't remember which button) to open the menu, and then choose view all contents or something like that. I don't have my PS3 in front of me, so I can't tell you for sure, but I know you have to choose to view all contents on the device, or otherwise it won't show you any folders.

I don't know if you can change the background on the PS3 yet... However, I am sure PS3 will not support all image formats. I do know that it supports jpegs, so save your images as JPG files and try to transfer them that way.

I read in Official UK PS mag that when you put stuff on your flash drive or other portable media you have to create a folder on your device called PS3 and then a folder called MUSIC, PHOTO or VIDEO and put your files in the corresponding folders. For some reason the folder names have to be in block capitals, it's the only way that the PS3 can read them for some strange reason. I can give you an example. Before I got my PS3 online I updated the firmware via USB flash drive. First I created my PS3 folder on my drive and inside that i created a folder called UPDATE and downloaded my update to that. I then put my drive into the PS3's USB slot and it picked it up straight away. It's not the most user friendly but it's the best way that I know of if your PS3 isn't online. I wouldn't recommend burning to CD, use a flash drive if you have one.

If you want to change your background open up the picture you want on the PS3 and press the PS button, hey presto!! I have tried this and it does work.
