no. it just depeends on wut resolution it is playing on. like there is a huge difference to 1080i and 1080p.1080p is much better cus the sc thing only does it once to get ur image faster, but 1080i scans twice so it take longer for it to be shown or projected

LCD's are meant for smaller tv's in areas like kitchens or bedrooms, i personally think there alot clearer then the normal HDTV'S or plasma's, and i havent noticed mine to be slow at all so...

LCD's just dandy for me.

I don't notice any "slowness" with my HDTV in 1080i or 1080p, and can hardly tell the difference between them. This "refresh" problem was only with old laptop displays if I remember right. You couldn't game on them becasue the graphics would drag all over the screen.
Sharp LCD's look fine to me. I couldn't find a sony at the time, oh well.

I've read in a few places that the the optimum LCD screen size is 32inches and for plasma is 40inches.

LCD screens were originally intended to show data instead of video, so yes, LCD DID have the problem with its screen refresh rate, and with the older LCD screens, you tend to see a blur effect with movement on screen. However, this problem is almost non-existent in the newer LCD screens. With new technology and faster image processors, some of the LCD screen have as low as 5ms of response time, which is much faster than most of the traditional CRT displays. Now, the real issue with most of the LCD displays are probably their "screen door effects" or their inability to produce a true black color.

I'll repeat my post in other thread cos its important:

The first LCD TVs had that refresh problem that causes some kind of "ghost" when there is fast movements, like a soccer game, etc. Right now almost every new LCD on the market have very quick refreshing rates, so you will not have that problem.

On the other side, plasma TV can have "burned" pixels when the display an image in the same spot for long periods of time, like vital signs or car panel instruments (that they are always in the same spot of the screen).

This are some of the advantages of a LCD over a plasma: (im not saying they are better, but pretty much recommended for videogames)

ADVANTAGES:
- Longer overall life time
- They wont have "burned" pixels on the screen
- Lighter and easier to install
- They consume less energy
- They display brighter colors

DISADVANTAGES:
- More expensive above the 32" mark
- The refresh rate is slower than plasma
- They dont display blacks as plasma does (they display a darker scale of grays)
- They make regular non HD TV look like crap

I did a lot of research before purchasing my LCD, it cost me the same as a 40" plasma, but since i have a small room and liked more the image on the LCD i went for it. now a own a Sony Bravia 32" 1080i LCD KDL32S2010 and im pretty much pleased with my purchase. for my living room im going for a bigger 50" plasma.
