Frankly, I don't think you can... The Bluetooth file transfer service must be supported at both devices in order for you to use them to share files, from what I have seen with the PS3 so far, the only service it is supporting is Bluetooth 2.0 HID service, which allows you to pair your controllers, headphones, and remotes with the console.
In addition, I am not sure if the PS3's bluetooth services are set to discoverable, and that might be why your computer is not picking up the PS3 in your bluetooth manager.

Wait...so the PS3 has even less functionality than the 360? And it still costs more?

I don't have a 360, but I know 360 do not support Bluetooth at all, all of its wireless peripherals are connected using 802.11 (WiFi) based wireless services. How does the PS3 have less features when it supports both WiFi and bluetooth?

I never used a 360 but I am definitely satisfied with my PS3.
I have my PC's, laptop, and my PS3 networked together. So, I can transfer music, photos, files, videos, etc to one another. ![]() It's simple to do. There may be other ways to do so but I juse use programs found on this site... http://www.redkawa.com/ |

Interested that you say file transfer is easy using redkawa.com software. Is this loaded onto the PC, Playtation 3 or both? Also I had read somewhere that this website had spyware. Presumably you have not had any problems. Any info. about how you did this file transfer set-up would be very useful. Thanks billbir |

Hi
this my solve your problem, on your computer go to network, it should come up with your computer name etc, if you wait a min, you should get another little server icon, witch then you go to WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and and a menu should pop up saying do you want to stream content, if you press yes, and then go to your ps3 hopefully you should be able to do it, email me if you any problems.

You can use a program like Orb (google it) to stream stuff. What you do is get a free account, then download the program. What it does is gives you your own file library online, so you upload songs and movies etc. to the Orb site using the downloadable program. Then, you go on your PS3 and on the Internet Explorer you login on Orb through the PS3 and have access to your stuff.
Is there a reason you can't just connect a USB cable from your computer to your PS3? That may work, maybe the PS3 will just recognize your PC as a Harddrive, from there you can go to your PC's music folder and stream and/or download.

I use TVesity, you can dl it free and after installation it ask you which folders you would like to monitor and when you add files to that folder, they are accessible from the ps3, It takes about 20 minutes to dl and setup, You can access any files that are set to share on your computer. Your ps3 will automatically detect the TVersity server on your wireless network so there is nothing to install on that end. It works great, my router is not fast enough for streaming video, music is ok sometimes, i just copy the files from the pc to the hdd on my ps3. Most media files can be copied to the ps3.

Everyone says that the ps3 should show up as an unknown or unregistered device when you search the network on a pc. I have a wireless router and the internet works fine on my ps3, but it cannot trace any media servers. There are no firewalls and my pc cannot find my ps3 at all. Can anyone help? I just want music on my ps3
