Hey guys, man sorry some of this news is a little late.. I’ve been away for a couple of days. I’d love to say it was to some super secret meeting with Sony.. but alas it wasn’t. Anyway here we go with some catch up PS3 news stories.
Electronic Arts (love ‘em or hate ‘em) has announced a new IP by way of “FaceBreaker”, coming via EA Canada for the PS3 (and360 and Wii) this year.
“We’re very excited to announce FaceBreaker, an all-new franchise from EA SPORTS that is fun, fresh and innovative,” said Peter Moore, president, EA SPORTS. “FaceBreaker reinvigorates one of the great genres in sports videogames. Arcade boxing takes me back to my roots in this industry, and this game signals our shift to adding more approachable fun to our product lineup. In no time at all, you’ll be picking up the controllers and knocking your opponent around the ring, smashing faces, and having a riot.”
As a gamer boxing games have never held much glee for me–not because I’m female, since I like to frag and get down and dirty with the rest of them, but because there never seemed much ‘to do’. That was until I bought an Xbox 360 prior to getting my PS3 and I played Fight Night Round 3; it was almost a work of art when it was released and I’m kind of hoping FaceBreaker might be a step up from that title since it’s being created by the same team that developed that one. FaceBreaker is said to “offer irreverent fun, immersive gameplay and eye-popping stylized graphics. I guess we’ll see how much of it is hype and how much of it is true when it’s released some time this year.
