Japan, they get all the funky things don’t they, lots of colored consoles, including a ‘Silver Satin’ 40GB PS3 on March 6. The price tag for some silvery goodness is 39,980 JPY – that’s about $375 USD or $420 AUD. If you’re a person that must have things that match, a rather nice Silver Satin Dualshock 3 will be released on the same day for an additional $52USD or $58AUD.
If you’re not into the import scene and you want to wait for the Silver Satin ps3 to hit US shores (or any other shores for that matter) SCEA has stated “there are no plans for a silver PS3 in North America at this time.” So that sort of is a big fat no for the time being, though it would make sense for other colors to hit US shores at some point, other console formats have always done it, so as Randy from Scream might say “there’s a very simple formula!” and it is generally this.. first Japan.. then the US, then the rest of us saps that live elsewhere.
