Atari and Gamecock Media has announced that Legendary will be available on the PS3 this summer. It’s not a PS3 exclusive (it’s also available on the Xbox 360 and PC),* but this Spark Unlimited developed game is sure to be a hit (whether it’s actually any good).

The first person shooter is set in a world torn apart after all the beasts of myth are unleashed upon it – sounds like a blast doesn’t it?* Atari Exec Mathias Hautefort is so confident of its success that he’s lauding it as taking the lead in Atari’s shooter line up this year – “Producing a game of this quality and scale is a major undertaking, but the highly talented team at Spark Unlimited is more than up to the job”.

Legendary tells the tale of Charles Deckard (not Rick), an art thief who is duped into stealing Pandora’s Box – yes that Pandora’s Box that has featured in many other gaming titles such as The House of the Dead 4, God of War, Final Fantasy VI, City of Heroes and even in the Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life movie. When Deckard inadvertently opens the box, he releases a horde of werewolves and gryphons into the modern world. A full scale war then ensues as man fights against beast and of Deckhard is the only person capable of saving civilization from the monsters.
