I’m not sure what to think of this one, since it’s kind of like the stick figure version of Portal, without much of the logic, but it’s new and quirky so worthy of a report. Echochrome (actually with a de-capitalized e) is a new game by Sony’s Japan Studios set to release on the PlayStation Store and PSP around mid March (slated for March 19).
As you’ll see from the trailer, it’s a very graphically simple puzzle title featuring a mannequin you must move from point A to point B whilst getting around some of Oscar Reutersvard’s impossible constructions. Not sure what they are, you may recall these from school, the most famous being a three pronged fork known as the Devil’s Tuning Fork—an optical illusion whereby a blivet (poiuyt) portrays two irreconcilable perspectives at once.
Sure it all sounds confusing, but the game couldn’t be more simple. Check out the trailer below, it’s all based on the camera’s perspective by the looks of things.
