Pure quad bike racing - eat dirt!

Pure racing on the PS3

Thrill seekers will be launching off massive peaks while racing against skilled rivals and performing gravity-defying aerial tricks in Pure, an extreme sports and off-road, quad racing video game targeted for release in Autumn 2008. Disney Interactive Studios has announced the development of Pure, which will be available for the PS3 (also Xbox 360 and PC).

Developed by Black Rock Studio, Disney Interactive Studios’ award-winning development studio in Brighton, England, Pure takes quad racing to a new level, featuring massive jumps and spectacular airborne tricks in memorable, photo-realistic settings all over the globe.

Here’s the bit I like: Players start by choosing among a variety of male and female character riders… YAY!! They can then either race against deft A.I. opponents or online players (up to 16-player multiplayer) in frenetic races and freestyle competitions all over the world.

What do you guys think about this one? I played MotorStorm when I got my PS3 on launch, but I was never really feeling the love with its framerate dips (though not too often) and inexplicable explosions. Hopefully Pure will up the ante in the offroad racing realm.
