Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots details
In a recent interview with Gamepro, Hideo Kojima offered a lot of new information for his upcoming PS3 title - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Here's a round-up of the more interesting info revealed in the exclusive interview.
Quote:
- So far we have only seen some Middle East scenes, but in the game Snake will travel all over the world. The reason for the Middle East setting is because of the recent events in the region. The game is Kojima's vision of World War III.
- When Kojima revealed the first ever footage of Metal Gear Solid 4 we saw Snake was injecting himself. Kojima confirmed this is because of his age, and these injections won't be gameplay elements. Even though his condition is worse, his abilities aren't degraded. That's because he wears a muscle suit.
- In the second trailer Kojima revealed the Octocamo suit. That's a high-tech suit that dynamically transforms its texture based on Snake's surrounding. If you like the texture you will also be able to keep it, so you can play with it. Kojima also confirmed this suit will also have it's weaknesses, because it won't make you invisible.
- This time round the enemies will have emotions. For example if an enemy is in panic mode he won't be looking everywhere because he wants to run away. There will be various ways to change enemies' emotions. For example, if an enemy is in a group of four and three get killed, according to his personality, he might panic because all of his squad has been killed.
- Snake will still have his standard suite of stealth modes, with one exception. He will not face the wall, because nobody is cool enough to hide like that.
- Kojima reconfirmed that MGS4 will use the motion-sensing capabilities of the SIXAXIS controller. He still misses the rumble feature.
- MGS4s online capabilities will remain a secret for the timebeing.
- There will be connectivity between MGS: Portable Ops (for PSP) and MGS4.
- Metal Gear Solid 4 will be PlayStation 3 only, although that Kojima is interested in developing games for Xbox 360 and PC.
