Electronic Arts Chief Exec Larry Probst has recently spoken out predicting that Sony will see a decline in its marketshare but will eventually come out on top.

"We expect that there will be a more level playing field this time around than last time," Probst.

Speaking in an investor conference in the United States this week, Probst highlighted the "expensive" price of the PS3 as a key problem facing the console. He pointed out that the audience at Sony's E3 conference gasped when the US$ 600 price point was revealed.

i think this will be the outcome in a few years. sonys machine will definatly eat up a lot of people but the wii is targeting a nongaming audience therefore they will still take some more of the market share then they had last time

yeah the ps3 took some risks with the high price but i think it is well worth the money considering what the machine will be capible of doing in the future

im really getting annoyed by people who think the ps3 is high priced, we are now leaving in a society where spending $700 shouldn't be a huge problem. The playstation offers so much more than any other gaming console or even the latest technology.

EA's games never exactly impressed me anyway. A little velocoraptor comes to mind. I think sony will continue to lose market share because people don't want a "do it all" machine. They don't want to update firmware to watch their HDTV's or blue-ray movies, or worry about a port-patch for a blue-tooth or whatever. They want to hit power and play, period. They sure don't want to spend 600 for a glorified toy that will be outdated in less than two to three years and maybe even blue-ray will flop like UMD.
Wait and see, like I'm waiting until the next next gen. Until then PS2 will be cheap! And PC's are for online gaming, not consoles. I don't need my ps3 to get an internet virus or have someone kill me everytime I log on. Yeah, that's fun for 600. I remember playing Dreamcast online and getting my whole memory card wiped out. LAN party!
