UK: Virgin Megastore Official Launch Partner
Virgin Megastore have announced their plans to team up with Sony to host the launch night festivities at the Oxford Street location in London.
"Virgin Megastores is the perfect partner for the launch of PS3," said Ray Maguire, Managing Director SCE UK. "We are well aware how patient and loyal our customers have been waiting for PS3 to arrive and fully intend to reward them with the launch they deserve. Plans are already well underway and we are working with local authorities to ensure we delivery the best console launch ever."
Fingers crossed there's no gun shots

This is good for people living in London.
I wonder how many people will actually be there?
From whats going on at the moment, it doesnt seem as if demand for the PS3 is that high. Or, maybe Sony are delivering more consoles than originaally planned...?

Offical UK PS mag states that 1 million consoles were allocated to Europe. Of that the UK got around 220,000. Not a stupidly huge amount. This would indicate that either the websites are lying and are taking way more orders than they can possibly fulfil, or the demand just isn't there.....Take your pick.

Well, check out the http://game.co.uk website. I mean, before it used to say "Hurry! Pre-Order now!"
Now it states: 100% Guaranteed Launch Day Delivery!
"100%" and "Guaranteed" suggests that demand really is low...I mean, there is officialy now less than 2 weeks until the launch.
Regardless, as long as I get my console Ill be fine!

Usually, they give away about 5 consoles or something, 10 at maximum. But 20? And...it courtesy of GAME!!
Seriously...things seem to be looking like a disaster!

Because demand was more in favour of the 60GB model in both the U.S and Japan launch, Sony is holding back on releasing the 20GB over here.

I think it will eventually, but sales will seriously have to pick up before that happens. |

...looks like the 20GB wont be available for a long time! (Maybe when Sony anounce Playstation 4 :P)

i'm getting a 20gb only because i won't have wifi and i have no need for the media card readers and also i won't be putting that much stuff on the hard drive so for me the 20gb is much more my style and 100 bucks cheaper so that means another game on purchase date!!
