Remember guys, a wired connection is always better than the wireless. Dropouts and inferior connections can occur when the antenna of the WiFi router is improperly adjusted. In addition, your WiFi connection may have time out problems depends on your implemented hashing algorithm and security protocol for that connection. A couple of things to try at this point: first, adjust your antenna so that each antennae have approximately the same angle to the base station, if it is a single antennae router, then adjust the antennae until it is perpendicular to the base station. Second, Try to lower the security settings if you are using a high bit rate encrytion protocol with complex hashing algorithms (ie. 256 bit WPA2 with AES Elliptical curve encryption).
Gigster, you are better off running the WiFi accesspoint unprotected than using WEP, the encryption on WEP can be sniffed out and broken with in seconds, it doesn't matter what bit rate you are using. If you still decided to use WEP, then lower your encryption bit rate to 96 bits, because that is all WEP can support, any additional bits are transfered in plain text (ie. 128 bit WEP = 96 bit encrypted key + 32 bit plain text key). If you really want to secure your wireless network, please use WPA with a long and complex pre-shared key (PSK).

ps3 wireless drop
I have gotten a p3s and my wirless works great with my laptop and desktop, my ps3 has connected with it at a %100 signal strength and im not working with any security on my router yet it still drops every 2 mins , its like its on a cycle ,iv even tried moving my router next to the ps3 but its still the same, im not very technical minded , but the problem does suggest it the ps3, can anyone spread some light on this subject , all advice on here points to security but with me not having any im at my wits end.
