Playstation 3: Network Timed Out

Hi, this is my first post on ps3chat.com (yey! )

Right, ive plugged my ethernet cable supplied with the PS3 into the back of my PS3 and into the back of my computer. When i do all the settings [ wired connection etc. ] it works, BUT then when it starts to say obtaining IP Address it says "Timed Out" or something similar to that.

Has any 'computer wiz' got any idea how to fix it pleeeeeease?
Ill be very grateful if you can help me out. Thanks

If you want to route internet connection from your computer, you will need a crossover cable and also 2 network connections. Essentially, you are using your computer as a router for your Internet connection. What you will have to do is to enable Internet connection sharing (ICS) service on the connection for your computer, and assign the share to the connection for the PS3. So the routing of the connection will look something like this:

Internet >>> CAT5 network cable >>> Computer's first network card >>> ICS shares the connection >>> Computer's second network card >>> CAT5 crossover cable >>> PS3.

For more information on ICS service, please check my other post here
