Wireless Networking Problems. HELP!!!!

Im having some serious problems getting my ps3 hooked up to my wireless network. I have to manually enter my IP address for it to be found by the ps3. The problem i am having is that Error number 8010102 keeps popping up, saying that there is a 'problem resolving the name with the server.'

I'm desperate to play online so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the internet browser work? If it doesn't, then it's your network settings.

Yes. If the browser works, then it would be Sony's server like the other person mentioned. If no, check your wireless settings.

kk sorted the earlier problem i had lol. Now i have another problem that you could hopefully help out with. When testing my connection, the IP address is found but still the INternet connection cant be found, but this time it says something about dns. I researched this on the net and it says the internet connection cant be found. This makes no sense as earlier on during the system settings my wireless network is shown in a percentage.

Basically, is there any way of rectifying this problem. I thought that it could be to do with the distance between the router and ps3, but this isnt the case as my brothers 360 is further away and works fine. Any suggestions would be great.

No it's def a Sony problem. Been playing resistance from 10 this morning till 4,went out for a while could not get back in.. It seem's every time it get's busy it goes down.. As charlie said if the browser on the ps3 is working then it is a Sony server problem.. Same happened last night got back on at 10.30 when every kid in europe went to bed...

I've never even heard of 2wire before. *shrug* You can try their support page. For a wireless connection, it's just like connecting a PSP, but instead of selecting infrastructure, pick wireless.

I had the same problems getting online which I fixed yesterday. The solution was simple in the end and didn't require messing with all the settings under the sun that I had been doing. I had many problems including not being able to allocate an IP address, not seeing the server name, DNS error you name it I had it.

The way we sorted it was a process of elimination - ie is it your ISP, your hardware or you settings. If 1 and 2 are in shape the Ps3 should automatically detect everything.

My problem was my gateway (ie I had a 3Com ADSL modem / router in one) which was about 3 years old. I got hold of a new device - a Netgear DG834PN and replaced the 3Com one. I set up the router but changed the internet settings on the router from PPPoPE to PPPoPA and entered all the login credentials as normal. I disabled wireless security and then rebooted everything.

Powered up the Ps3 and it worked first time. Then I enabled WPA wireless security and away we go.

In summary, check your router and use PPPoPA. I'm on AOL. My brother has Sky Broadband and it worked on that too using a Netgear Modem/Router and PPPoPA
