Call of Duty 3 Online

hey guys...

i own resistance, motorstorm and call of duty 3 as ps3 games so far. I am pleased with them single player, and multiplayer online with the exception of call of duty (COD) 3.

When i go into the multiplayer of COD, it says "Connecting to network" and works, and gives me the option of instant match and lobby.

When I press instant match, i either get the message (after it says "joining...") "could not connect to host" or "could not connect to all players".

I went into lobby, and tried to connect to all the servers/games and got these two error messages. I tried servers where i have all full stars on "connection to server" and also low stars. I have no idea what to do, and know that my router and internet is properly connected as i can play resistance and motorstorm perfectly without any problems. I really want to play COD 3 online, and I just dont think there is anything i can do that i can think of.

If the problem stands out for any one of you out there on the forum, please give me an idea of what I can do. First of all, if it has to do with forwarding ports or something, I'd just like to say I'm not great with that so would appreciate "step-by-step" instructions for fixing that... and if it is to do with forwarding ports, it confuses me since other games work on ps3 online.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but for both Motorstorm and Resistance, when I went into online first time, it said that I had to run and install an update before I could play online, and then forced me to reboot the PS3. However, with COD 3 it just said "Connecting to Network" and went straight into the online menu. I wonder if I need the update, but have no idea to be honest.

Any quick help would be HUGELY appreciated!

Thanks, tc47

I am not aware of any ways to download updates manually for CoD3. I haven't played the game online, but I will try to play it online when I get home and see if I can reproduce the problem.

It will tell you that you need a update before you get online to play it
but i was wodering when you set your intenert connect up was UPnP enabled and whats your NAT type if its 3 you will have alot of troubles and will need to jsut configure your router to be more friendly

Call of duty online for me worked fine once i was in the game, its just getting into a game that was the hard part, my ps3 was on wireless but i found that it was more stable thru the ethernet connection, its easier to get into a game now

I've had that problem a few times also but seems fine at the moment. Are there several servers for this game ?? I arranged to meet a mate on there and after messing about for nearly 1 hr on the phone to him we could never find a game the same. Tried setting up our own games but we could never find each other on that either...any ideas ?

I had the same problem last night, and intermittently have an issue with this. I tend to try again a bit later and all is fine
