What is the operating system on your laptop? How is the laptop connected to the Internet and how is the PS3 connected to the laptop (ie. connected via CAT5 crossover from the ethernet adapters)

First off what type of modem do you have, what type of router do you have, who is your ISP? Then tell us how they are all connected together as best you can and try to be specific.

Are you receiving wireless from the router on your laptop, and then using ethernet cable running from the laptop to the ps3? This is what it sounds like to me.

In this case the cable you are using need to be what is called crossover because it is two devices directly communicating to each other. A cross over flips the read and write on the cable basically.

This really isn’t a good idea imo.... I would buy some kind of wireless adapter for the PS3. A wireless adapter could also be the "bridge" you are talking about.

Something like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Linksys/WET54G/

If something like this isn’t working it’s in your router or adapters settings. In which case post up your router and adapters model.

Sony prob won't be able to trouble shoot this issue since it is your router or adapter. Make sure your adapter dosen't require any type of drivers or configuration (it would be odd if a bridge required drivers but check anyways).
