I cant get online and want to kill myself!!!!!
hiya,
If anyone could help that would be grand, its not quite as dramatic as it may sound, I just needed your attention.
i have recently purchased my brand new shiny black PS3, its very good, and im very happy with it. it's quite big and heavy isn't it!!
i really want to go online, but i don't know where to plug my Ethernet into. I have broadband, not wireless, but the router box is not adaptable with the connection on the end of the ethernet cable. and it wont fit straight into the wall either.
Does anyone know if i am missing a box or something that i need to plug the ethernet into, and then into the wall. i just dont know. and the retards at GAME don't know either!

more info like what type of connection do you have from who what type of routher and model numbers and so on so we can look up your hard ware and tell you what you need to get or do

If you have a router with no ethernet port - you haven't got a router. I hazard a guess you have a cable modem that comes with a free internet service and only has an RJ11 and USB slot. As Siege says bosh the model number up and we can have a look.

yep cheers for that, i have sorted a bit out, and now realise i do not infact have a router. i am going to get a wireless hub but still im not exactly sure how i would wire it up. wud the ethernet just go into a little box with an ariel on it that would communicate with the hub in the other room by my pc, or not.

you need an adsl wireless router which you setup your net conection via pc. Then you just lob a patch cable from network port to network port and away you go. Wireless is ok but not particularly good for gamng. I've got a netgear DG834N and it works a treat. All you need is your connection settings from your ISP and away you go.

I got WRT-45G wireless router it it works fine.....I was on a $50 budget for router (just bought 2 games) and picked this one at Wal-Mart for about $45 and it has four ports (along with wireless) I think it is of good value and the setup instructions for that company is good enough for me (dont know anything technical on computers)

just go for the wireless, your PS3 will pick up your signal and all you do is connect to it.
It was a pain for me when I got it up and running as I tried to plug the ethernet cable from the ps3 into the back of my laptop and it didnt work, turns out it just picked up my wireless router and presto.

hi guys,
cheers for all your advice, i appreciate it. and im happy to say i've cracked it. i opted for the wired connection, got a huge ethernet from an electrical store and i set up a local network connection using the point on my pc.
resistance is the don, although i've made an appaulin first impression. spend most my time in black n white, waitin to respawn!! lol maybe see some of you on there.
