Well, if you have a wireless router and the ps3 is not to far away from it, it has a wireless card already in the ps3 and will connect but not instantly. You have to change the settings to wireless and if your network is secure and more than likely it is... You have to put in the key to use it on the ps3 which you can get from the router software on your computer. If the router is not wireless then you must be in reach of the router to plug up to your computer and then reach an ethernet cable to your ps3 and then type in the key and it will work. There has to be a modem connected to the router. You can't connect your phoneline to a router without a dsl modem hooked to it. The dsl modem takes the signal from the phone line and makes it into what dsl is. If you just plug a phone line in the router it isn't going to do that. It's best to buy a 50 dollar or 89 dollar wireless router at radioshack so you don't have to run a wire to wheverever your ps3 is. And wireless routers go far. All over your house and even outside.
