Sorry, but I don't think you understand how limited my knowledge is although I do know what Wi-Fi is
Anyways heres my setup:
- I have my router plugged in and set-up and it's got a signal
- My cable modem only has one ethernet port
- That is an ethernet cable plugged into the back of the PC
- I have recieved numerous wires with the router, none of which I have any idea of what they do
Anyone have any ideas of what cable I need to plug into the router and from where to get it to recieve an internet connection, send it out to my PS3 and still recieve the internet on my desktop PC

OK, I've taken out the ethernet cable connecting the cable modem to the PC out of the back of the PC and connected it to the wireless router. Then I've taken the ethernet cable that came with the wireless router and connected that from the PC to the wireless router. Is that right?
If it is the sign for an internet connection on the front of the wireless router hasn't lit up

The ethernet cable from modem to wireless router doesn't fit in the main port of the router

His computer probably doesn't have WiFi and you have to use an ethernet cable to hook your modem to your router anyway.

Never mind, turns out I got the wrong router. I got an ADSL instead of a DSl. Anyways, now i've got s Linksys and I can obtain an IP address but the time to connect to the internet runs out. I'm assuming this is because of a low signal. Is that right and is there any way to improve the signal?

did u solve ur problem m8?
try finding ur PS3 mac address. Then go to ur modem setting through PC-Internet explorer, eg. http://192.168.1.1 , u should have a address like that depending on ur modem, once u are in the Modem setting u can then register there the PS3 mac address. Hope that can help.
EDIT: Also make sure u have the ports opened.
